Katrina - The Prophesied Storm

As of January 2005, The Department of Defense and Homeland Security were already studying the security and infrastructure of Louisiana. Did it help? Did anyone listen?

Katrina, Allah's Terrorist

Kuwaiti Muhammad Yousef Al-Mlaifi is a soul-mate for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his "Reap the Whirlwind" mentality.

From God's lips to a Kennedy's ears ... Hurricane Katrina was visited upon the inhabitants of Mississippi because their governor, Haley Barbour, "offended God" by helping President Bush oppose the Kyoto Protocol.

While Kennedy claimed the ferocious storm was directed by God as punishment for the environmental sins of Republicans, Muhammad Yousef Al-Mlaifi, director of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Endowment's research center, proclaimed "The terrorist Katrina' is a 'soldier of Allah". (World Tribute)

... the storm Katrina is the fifth equatorial storm to strike Florida this year... and that a large part of the U.S. is subject every year to many storms that extract [a price of] dead, and completely destroy property. I said, Allah be praised, until when will these successive catastrophes strike them? But before I went to sleep, I opened the Koran and began to read in Surat Al-R'ad ['The Thunder' chapter], and stopped at these words [of Allah]: 'The disaster will keep striking the unbelievers for what they have done, or it will strike areas close to their territory, until the promise of Allah comes to pass, for, verily, Allah will not fail in His promise.' [Koran 13:31]."

One is left wondering how it is that an environmentalist ideologue and an Islamist would have such similar thought processes.

Hurricane Katrina Relief

The banner in the upper right corner of my site points to the Amerian Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina relief. It was made by Jim Lynch of Bright & Early. It is available for all to post on their sites. Go to Jim's site HERE for instructions on how to add it.

There are many, many other worthwhile places to donate, but I prefer the American Red Cross for this disaster. It is heartwarming to see all of my conservative blogger friends offering places to donate, or having auctions to raise money. Instapundit has a long, long list of places recommended by other bloggers. Peggy Noonan at Opinion Journal wrote today:

Bloggers. In February I wrote that bloggers will help get America through a national crisis. They just did. Nothing has the immediacy and believability of local reports by citizen journalists living through a local story. Terry Teachout performed a public service linking to Katrina blogs; Glenn Reynolds offered links to relief organizations. The Times Picayune's live-blogging has been solid. Local bloggers were great until they started losing electric power and couldn't send anymore. Mr. Teachout told me at the end they were blogging by BlackBerry. As power comes back the greatest blogging should begin--what it was like, what the recovery is like, what is happening on the streets. Thanks in advance.

However, imagine my suprise when I happened to visit a liberal site and found that they are channeling their donations to the American Red Cross, through a liberal front.

Islamists Get Out" by Daniel Pipes

The British shadow education secretary ..., David Cameron, defined Britishness as "freedom under the rule of law," adding that this expression "explains almost everything you need to know about our country, our institutions, our history, our culture - even our economy." ... Mr. Cameron spoke with a bluntness unique in four years of politicians' discourse since September 11, 2001: "The driving force behind today's terrorist threat is Islamist fundamentalism. The struggle we are engaged in is, at root, ideological. During the last century a strain of Islamist thinking has developed which, like other totalitarianisms, such as Nazi-ism and Communism, offers its followers a form of redemption through violence."

But it was the British shadow defense minister, Gerald Howarth, who went the furthest, suggesting in early August that all British Islamists must go. "If they don't like our way of life, there is a simple remedy: Go to another country, get out." He directed this principle even to Islamists born in Britain, as were three of the four London bombers: "If you don't give allegiance to this country, then leave."

These statements, all dating from the past half year, prompt several observations. First, where are the Americans? No major U.S. politician has spoken of making American-based Islamists unwelcome. Who will be the first? ... And finally, these comments are likely to be leading indicators of a broader campaign to restrict and remove Islamists – a move that comes none too soon.

Guns and SUVs

AT first we were to understand that the looting in the wake of Hurricane Katrina consisted of grandmothers gathering bread and peanut butter for their hungry families. Certainly most of the absentee store owners would have contributed such basic necessities freely. However, seeing and hearing of the looting of jewelry and expensive electrical equipment in an American city with no hope of electric power for months to come, is heartbreaking.

Peggy Noonan of Opinion Journal writes "I hope the looters are shot":

As for the tragic piggism that is taking place on the streets of New Orleans, it is not unbelievable but it is unforgivable, and I hope the looters are shot. A hurricane cannot rob a great city of its spirit, but a vicious citizenry can. A bad time with Mother Nature can leave you digging out for a long time, but a bad turn in human behavior frays and tears all the ties that truly bind human being--trust, confidence, mutual regard, belief in the essential goodness of one's fellow citizens.

Some farsighted residents have generators and they too became targets of the lawless.

The New York Times: John Carolan was sitting on his porch in the thick, humid darkness just before midnight Tuesday when three or four young men, one with a knife and another with a machete, stopped in front of his fence and pointed to the generator humming in the front yard, he said.

One said, "We want that generator," he recalled.

"I fired a couple of rounds over their heads with a .357 Magnum," Mr. Carolan recounted Wednesday. "They scattered."

He smiled and added, "You've heard of law west of the Pecos. This is law west of Canal Street."

As The Gulf Coast Drowns

Environmentalist" Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Takes Pot Shots, claiming Mississippi and Louisiana were "Reaping the Whirlwind" of the winds their leaders had sown. Well, well, deep in the bluest of the blue states, Massachusetts, environmentalist Robert F. Kennedy is being pistol whipped by his own for his outrageous explanation for Hurricane Katrina's ferocious attack on the deep red states. The Boston Herald chides him with a piece entitled "Critics fiddle as Gulf Coast drowns".

It must be nice for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to have a dry, air-conditioned office in which to pen a navel-gazing think piece blaming Republicans for the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina. As dead bodies floated in the flood waters of Louisiana and Mississippi and tens of thousands of people sat in humid shelters wondering how to piece their lives back together, or just hoping for a drink of water – Kennedy saw an opportunity to wax eloquent about . . . global warming. And the environmental activist took it one shameful step further blaming Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour and his views on global warming for, essentially, bringing the hurricane down on his own people.

Kerfuffles is not going to let him go down easy, either. Mr. Environmentalist Kennedy wrote that hypocritical screed on a computer in an air conditioned office with electricity. If this was almost anywhere in the northeastern United States, as suspected, he was using energy created from the burning of coal. Yes coal, which, according to Kennedy and his fellow global warming activists, is responsible for causing global warming and Hurricane Katrina.

Cause of Global Warming

Is Global Brightening! As the world continues to turn upon its axis, the sun is burning hotter.

Is global warming, if it is in fact happening at present which is not proven, just a natural cycle in the billions-year-old earth's history or has it been caused by man's interference in the environment? Curiously, charges and evidence of global warming started about the same time that western countries began taking steps towards cleaner air. Now comes evidence that "atmospheric brightening" may be the culprit. Atmospheric brightening occurs when particulates are removed from the air to improve its quality. However this cleaner air allows more sunlight to penetrate and, hence, accelerate global warming. If that is found to be the true cause of global warming, we would need to fix it by burning stuff outdoors, removing the particulate scrubbers from smokestacks, and banning electric or hydrogen cars? If not, as the environmentalists will soon be warning us - "we all will bake".
