Civilization and Barbarism

It has been a few days now, since some innocent Londoners travelling to work were blown to bits or maimed by the devilish work of Islamist terrorists. I am writing this from the other side of the Atlantic, but so far, I have not heard the screaming and wailing of British mobs demanding immediate vengeance. Londoners understand that vengeance will be theirs, but it will come from their military and law enforcement. There will be no beheadings in the square. Although, the first fears in the aftermath of the explosions, as portrayed by the media, was that Muslims in London would become targets, I have yet to read of any reprisals against them. There have been no mosques burned, and no Islamic places of business harmed. And the only Muslims to be injured and killed were by the bloody hands of their fellow Muslims who exploded the bombs that early London morning. Contrast this reaction of London society to the horrific slaughter and maiming of its citizens, to the reaction of the Muslim world when a false rumor was started about the flushing of a Koran at Guantanamo, Cuba. Hundreds around the world were killed for that "so called" atrocity. It is but one of many differences between a civilized culture and a culture that worships barbarism.
