Hillbillies, Rednecks, and Crackers

Many epithets and nicknames in common use today in the Southern United States, had their beginnings in Scotland and Ulster, Ireland, and were brought to America during the 1700s immigration of the Scottish Lowland and Ulster Presbyterians.
